What do you want the students to learn?
- TSW identify changes occurring in their environment from water or man (5.6a, 5.11a).
- TSW learn how to use technology using GPS and maps (5.4a).
Set-up
- Teacher will scout out several areas for students to collect information and map it out.
What steps will the students take?
- Students will use maps to make inferences about how that area has changed over the last year, 10 years, 100 years.
- Students go to that area near school and take GPS coordinates, digital pictures, and sketch out what is going on now.
- Students make notes on animal and plant life.
- Over time, students will revisit area to record more data by GPS, camera, and observation.
- Students will see how man and nature are changing their area.
- They will also see how their community, state, country, and earth are affected by theses changes.
- Students make conclusions on why it is happening and what we can do to prevent change.
Extra Activities?
